Plastic surgery for men: a very positive trend

Plastic surgery for men on the TODAY show

Plastic surgery for men

When it comes to learning about options for plastic surgery for men, trust the advice of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, not that of a psychiatrist and advertising executive. This is my advice to patients. Needless to say, I was surprized to learn that The Today Show aired a piece this morning about the recent positive statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and featured somewhat disparaging comments from these two NON-Plastic Surgeons.

Last month, I updated you all (my patients, friends and colleagues) with the latest ASPS statistics that reflect a significant positive trend in 2010 (compared with 2009) of males seeking a variety of plastic surgery procedures. There has clearly been a very profound tide change recently, with men presenting and requesting plastic surgical procedures. I care for a significant number of men in my practice (about 35% of my patients). It is blatantly clear that undergoing plastic surgical procedures (for men) is popular and something to be proud of, especially in light of the increasingly competitive job market. Common reconstructive plastic surgery procedures that I perform on men include breast reduction for gynecomastia, repair of facial bone fractures and reconstruction of facial skin cancer defects. Some of the more popular cosmetic procedures include Botox injections, liposuction of the abdomen and waist, and rhinoplasty.
