Competitive job market keeping interest in plastic surgery high

Job interviewFor many patients, cosmetic plastic surgery is a true luxury.  However, I am seeing a new trend in which patients (who may have been affected by our economic climate) are wanting to look their very best in order to stay competitive during this very ‘tight’ job market.  Patients aged 35 to 55 often request eyelid, brow and facial rejuvenation, liposuction or neck lifts. Younger patients are coming in requesting liposuction, breast augmentation and the Mommy Makeover. Still other patients, who may not be ready to have a surgical procedure, are opting for Botox, Restylane & Juvederm injections and Pixel laser facials.

Nationwide, from 2008 to 2009, there was a 2 percent decrease in the total number of cosmetic procedures, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Surgical procedures decreased by 17 percent, and nonsurgical procedures increased by almost 1 percent. However, things have started to changed quite a bit in 2010.

Demand for individual procedures across the board remains about the same since I provide a range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, including reconstruction for facial trauma, skin cancer, and breast cancer patients.
