Benign Skin Lesions and The Plastic Surgeon

benign skin lesions

types of benign skin lesions

Frequently, I will be asked to evaluate a patient for removal of a skin lesion that does not appear to be cancerous. There are many benign (non-cancerous) tumors that should be excised if for no other reason than to rule out the possibility that they may in fact be something more insidious. Some of these tumors include:

1) Acrochordons (Skin tags)
2) Lipomas (fatty tumors)
3) Dermatofibromas
4) Sebaceous Hyperplasia
5) Angiofibroma
6) Neurofibroma
7) Xanthelasma
